Conventional Docs vs. Functional Providers (and Why You Should have Both)

Your traditional doctor has undergone many years of school, residency training, and if they choose, another few years of specialized training. I won’t get into details, as we are not going to focus on the credentials here.

Over the years, I have heard people say, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”, or “sleep is for losers”. Sleep deprivation can mess up our circadian rhythms and disrupts hormone balance. Sleep positively affects just about every cell in our bodies. It is important to prioritize sleep for our health and lose that mentality that sleep is a waste of time.

Mindset is a very small change we can make for ourselves that will create the biggest impact on the outlook of our lives. The way we see things can have a big effect on how we feel about them. Is getting out of bed hard in the morning? Maybe you’re not a morning person or you hate being the one getting everyone else out of bed.

I’ve heard it many times before. You don’t eat bread? No quieres tortillas? No pizza? Why?? Of course, I never think those questions come with an ounce of malice. A tiiiiiiny bit of judgement? Sure. But mostly, I think it’s different and people are curious. When I started to change my lifestyle and eating habits, it was difficult to confront family and friends.
